What Beer Does The Star Inn 1744 Serve?

When it comes to fun, relaxation and the chance to socialise, many people love to kick back with a cold lager or a pint of beer in their favourite local pub.

If you’re someone who likes a drink or two with your friends, then The Star Inn here in Thrussington makes a great choice, as we have a wide range of lager and ale to suit all pallets.

In fact two of our beverages carry the word “star” as part of their name but in different languages – how appropriate! Can you spot which ones they are? Perhaps come and give them a try!

Carling – This popular beverage has been the UK’s best-selling lager for the last 30 years, and many enjoy the refreshing taste to this day. Did you know that Carling changed its name from Carling Black Label so it was less of a mouthful when ordering at the bar!

Stella Artois – this strong lager has roots dating back to 1366 where the story began in Leuven, Belgium. Originally made by the Artois brewery, the word Stella (Latin for star) was added centuries later when a special batch was made as a Christmas gift to the people of the town.

Paulaner – First made as a home brewed beer by the Paulaner monks of the Neudeck monastery. To this day it still keeps its ties to Munich traditions and embraces the Bavarian way of life. The unfiltered Weißbier is exported from Munich’s Nockherberg to over 70 countries around the world.

Estrella – with a name meaning star in both Spanish and Catalan, Estrella Damm is a strong Mediterranean lager which has been brewed in Barcelona since 1876 and the brand is the oldest in Spain. It is made with malt, rice and hops, as well as being brewed with 100% natural ingredients.

Birra Moretti – this authentic Italian beer was originally made by an Italian brewing company, founded in Udine in 1859. Then in 1996 the company was acquired by Heineken International. It is a distinctive golden beer with a unique and pleasant aroma.

Spitfire – Spitfire Ale was originally created and brewed by Shepherd Neame in Kent to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. As a tribute to The Few who fought in the great battle, its hoppy flavour is enjoyed by many.

East Coast IPA – one of the latest additions to the Greene King family East Coast IPA is described by the brewers as a “bold, brash and beautiful American style IPA with lip-smacking bitterness and mellow citrus and tropical fruit flavours.”

Guinness – this well-known Irish dry stout is hugely popular the world over and really needs no introduction. It’s one of the most successful beer brands worldwide. Famous these days for its unique tang, it has a pleasant burnt flavour that comes from roasted unmalted barley.

Timothy Taylors Landlord – a strong classic ale with a golden amber colour, as well as a complex citrus and hoppy aroma. It has won more awards than any other beer, winning both CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain and the Brewing Industry Challenge Cup four times.

Three Kings (guest ale) – this is a brewery which makes its beers locally in Loughborough. This beer is 4.5% and is a lovely warming beer, perfect for those cold evenings.

Bass Premium (Coming Soon) – Draught Bass is a 4.4 ABV cask conditioned beer. It’s often described as   “a classic ale with a malty, fruity, nutty aroma and a complex, satisfying flavour”
